Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team access locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
