Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
The win also means he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.
He saved four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
